Inspired by their mother's knack for losing her sunglasses on trips, Ming and Shing, a brother and sister from Singapore, started Rocket Eyewear in December 2016.
They envisioned a company that would specialise in their mum's favourite P3 shape — a classic round frame commissioned for U.S. soldiers during WWII and worn by 1950s movie stars like Grace Kelly, Gregory Peck and James Dean.
Focusing on a single shape, the siblings made their mum's signature frames in the world's widest range of fits, colours and sizes for the diverse people (and noses) of Singapore, a multicultural island-city in Southeast Asia where east meets west.
Initially, Rocket Eyewear gained a following with travel-mad Singaporeans looking for versatile, understated sunglasses to bring on overseas trips, such as a long weekend in Bali, a cousin’s wedding in Tuscany or even a coffee bean auction in Colombia!
Today, as we design for a growing community of customers stretching from Sydney to Los Angeles, we embrace new product possibilities while staying true to our original vision of reimagining the classics to fit and flatter different face shapes because one size does not fit all!
